We're going to be moving house in the near future and the garden there will not be suitable for bee keeping. So, if anyone wants my hive they're more than welcome to it.
It doesn't look as though the bees have survived the winter. There's no sign of any activity around the hive and, having had a quick peep inside, there seems to be loads on honey still in the combs.
Unfortunately I can't get the hive in the car so if you do want it you'll have to sort out transport.
Please get in touch if you or anyone you know is interested.
Hope to see you at the next meeting
Pete

ReplyDeleteGraham, you're more than welcome to the hive if you want it but you'll have to fetch it - I don't have a vehicle that it will fit into. It would be a shame to destroy the hive if someone can use it. I believe all the bees have perished over the winter (cause unknown). They were active up to November so I'm a little surprised that there's none left - maybe the queen died? Who knows.
ReplyDeleteLet me know what you want to do.

ReplyDeleteHi Graham. I'll give you a ring tomorrow if that's ok. However I live in Belper so it maybe a bit of a way to push a wheelbarrow ;-)
